Bihar Shatabdi Niji Nalkoop Yojana is a significant scheme by the Bihar government, launched in 2011 for farmers. It provides subsidies for installing shallow and medium-depth borewells and motor pump sets on agricultural land. The aim is to reduce dependence on monsoon for irrigation and prevent crop loss, benefiting the state's largely agriculture-dependent population.

Scheme Benefits

The scheme provides financial assistance for installing borewells and motor pump sets. For shallow borewells (up to 70 meters), a subsidy of up to ₹15,000 or ₹100 per foot (₹328 per meter) for boring, and up to ₹10,000 or 50% of the motor pump set value (whichever is less). For medium-depth borewells (70-100 meters), a subsidy of up to ₹35,000 or ₹182 per foot (₹597 per meter) for boring, and up to ₹10,000 or 50% of the motor pump set value (whichever is less).

Who Can Apply

Farmers residing in Bihar are eligible. Applicants must possess a minimum of 0.40 acres (40 dismil) of agricultural land. Each farmer is eligible for subsidy for only one borewell. The scheme mandates the selection of 16% Scheduled Caste (SC) and 1% Scheduled Tribe (ST) farmers in each district.

How to Apply

Farmers must visit the official Bihar Shatabdi Niji Nalkoop Yojana website and click on 'आवेदन करे'. They need to fill the application form with details like agricultural registration number, land area, and upload a land ownership certificate. After submission, a registration number is provided. An executive engineer will inspect the boring site within 15 days, and upon approval, the farmer is notified via SMS. The farmer must complete the borewell installation within 45 days of approval. To claim the subsidy, farmers must revisit the portal, click 'दावा अपलोड करे', and upload documents related to borewell and pump set purchase. The claim is verified within 15 days, and the subsidy is transferred via DBT to the farmer's account within a week of successful verification.
